WITH JUST DAYS LEFT TO VOTE, HOOD RIVER HOLDS 3RD POSITION IN
“BEST SMALL TOWN BEER SCENE” IN USA TODAY 10BEST READERS’ CHOICE AWARDS
Hood River is one of only two PNW towns nominated, public is encouraged to vote daily through Oct. 24
(HOOD RIVER, Ore.) — With less than one week remaining to vote, Visit Hood River is asking the public to push the valley over the top in the Best Small Town Beer Scene category of the 2022 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Home to more than a dozen area craft breweries and the annual Hood River Hops Fest, Hood River has been named one of 20 nationwide finalists in the Best Small Town Beer Scene category for three consecutive years.
Hood River is one of only two Northwest towns — and the only one in Oregon — to be nominated for the annual award this year. But Hood River currently sits in third place. Everyone is invited to vote daily by visiting the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards page, which also includes a current leaderboard and a list of competing towns. Voting closes at 9 a.m. PDT on Monday, Oct. 24.
“We are thrilled to see Hood River as a ‘Best Small Town Beer Scene’ nominee for the third consecutive year and are hopeful that a last-minute push of votes will help solidify a lead position on the leaderboard,” said Katie Kadlub, CEO of Visit Hood River. “The Hood River brewery scene has received a ton of notice and acclaim over the years, but a vote of the public is a true test of the overall appeal of a region. Not only from the breweries’ points of view but from a visitor’s experiential perspective as well.”
According to the most recent pre-pandemic information from the Oregon Office of Economic Analysis(Aug. 2019), Hood River has 13 times the U.S. average for breweries per capita and nearly 25 times the volume of craft beer produced.
Twenty finalists were chosen by a panel of experts before voting was turned over to the public to crown the winner. The winners will be announced on Friday, Nov. 4.
