The 2022 Gorge Artists Open Studios Tour: An experience of indoor art and outdoor nature

Explore the Columbia River Gorge through the eyes of artists in the setting that inspires them. Gorge Artists invites you to our annual Gorge Artists Open Studios Tour on Friday, April 22, Saturday, April 23, and Sunday, April 24, from 10am to 5pm.

Gorge Artists Open Studios Tour is a much-loved tradition that invites art lovers to meet artists in their studio spaces — to experience art as work, craft, process, and inspiration. It is a free, self-guided tour of individual artist studios and workspaces located throughout the Mid-Columbia Gorge regional area. Featured artists’ studios span from Hood River to The Dalles, White Salmon, WA to Mt Hood, OR. Take advantage of the three days to visit as many studios as you can or, if you have limited time, just drop into a few.

This annual tour, now in its 16th year, features more than 32 local artists showcasing a wide variety of work in glass, metalwork, painting, ceramics, jewelry, textiles, wood working, art quilting, photography, and more.

Where else but on a tour of artists’ studios can you experience the smell of woodwork sawdust, the smattering of colors around an easel, the intricate process behind a pair of earrings, a display of ceramics in different stages of completion, an enticing rainbow of pastels mixed on a tray, or the impressive machinery for screen printing or art quilting? And where else but in the stunning Columbia River Gorge can you wind through forest, alongside orchards in bloom, across rivers, up into the hills, and back in time to find something delicious in town for lunch? Gorge Artists Open Studios Tour is unique.

Visiting from out of town? Come for Gorge Artists Open Studios Tour and stay for the weekend! April is blossom time, when the local surrounding orchards are flocked with rows of pink and white. The mountain is still draped in snow, while the greening hills burst with wildflowers. Experience the natural beauty of the Gorge while enjoying fantastic local food, vineyards, outdoor recreation, shopping, and a great selection of boutique hotels and bed & breakfasts.

We invite you to come experience the Gorge Artists Open Studios Tour. To see what’s in store for this years’ experience, make sure to follow us on social media @gorgeartists.

“The tour brings visitors from near and far; as an artist it is always a pleasure to recognize faces of returning tour goers. The epic wildflower vista is worth the trip alone!” says Jan Byrkit, Mosier artist and board member.

The tour is free and self-guided. Find out more about the tour, and the Otocast app, at gorgeartists.org. Be sure to follow us on social media @gorgeartists.
