Sure the alpine skiing in Hood River is amazing but there are so many other great ways to enjoy this amazing winter basecamp. So whether you’re looking for great Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, winter hikes, or even firing up a snowmobile, there’s no shortage of opportunities to get out and enjoy the season.

Grab a coffee and breakfast sandwich from one of downtown Hood River’s coffee spots. Dog River Coffee and Ground Coffee offer house-roasted beans and freshly made bites to fuel your day when you head back up the hill for more.

Winter Hikes and Sledding
Whether sledding at Little John, hiking a snowy trail to the ice-covered Tamanawas Falls or powering up the snow machines at Bennett Pass, any number of winter adventures are accessible within thirty-five miles of Hood River.

Walk in Winter Woods
Whether by snow shoe or Nordic skis, there are a bevy of places to experiences winter ramblings.
Teacup Lake Nordic Area, Mt. Hood Meadows, Cooper Spur Mountain Resort, and Pocket Creek Sno-Park all have an array of terrain and are within easy reach of hood River.
Teacup Lake offers over 24KM of groomed XC trails that are groomed Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, November through May – weather permitting.
Pocket Creek Sno-Park offers snowshoeing on non-groomed trails but dogs are allowed here so no need to leave doggos in the car.

Lunch
Parkdale’s Grateful Vineyards and sit in their Nordic-inspired outdoor dining area, complete with Pendleton blankets, heaters, and twinkle lights. Their specialty tasting menu pairs perfectly with their craft wine, beer, and cider labels.

Souvenirs
No, we’re not talking about key chains, but with so many great beer and ciders, why not pack some for home? Stop by one of Hood River’s many bottle shops like Volcanic or Hood River Common House to stock your fridge with your local ciders and beer! Reminisce about your winter adventures while sipping your Hood River favorite, and begin planning your next adventure!
