Hood River has a version of winter that has little to do with chasing snow. It starts with recognizing that our bodies and minds could always use some extra care.
Whether you make wellness the focus of the trip or use it as a way to soften the landing after a few days on Mount Hood, this itinerary can be followed closely or a la carte to help recharge the body and reset the mind.

Friday
3 p.m. Choose Your Home Base
Lightwell Hotel & Spa offers a modern downtown stay with a warm soaking pool and sauna included for overnight guests. Massage appointments range from relaxing treatments to mobility-focused bodywork, with side-by-side sessions available for couples.
For a historic setting, reserve a room at the Columbia Gorge Hotel & Spa. The landmark property sits above the Columbia River beside its 208-foot waterfall, with treatments at Remedease Spa and on-site dinner at Simon’s Cliff House.

5:30 p.m. Get Warm at Nordica Haus
Set along the waterfront, Nordica Haus brings a relaxed, social approach to Nordic sauna tradition. Join a shared 90-minute session or reserve the sauna and lounge privately for up to six guests.
Sit in the heat, step outside to cool down, drink some water, and repeat until your shoulders drop.

7:30 p.m. Dinner Along the Waterfront
Choose a nearby restaurant, order something comforting, and leave the rest of the evening open.

Saturday
8:30 a.m. Move With the Morning
This is not a four-studio challenge. Start with the practice that fits your energy.
A Hood River fixture since 2003, Flow Yoga has one of the area’s broadest class schedules. Options include gentle, restorative, and yin yoga; warm vinyasa; strength training; and movement set to music, with modifications for different bodies and experience levels.
Machi Yoga offers a smaller, more intimate setting centered on presence and connection. Its classes invite students to settle into the practice without pressure to perform.
For more intensity, The Foundry pairs Yoga Sculpt, Pilates Sculpt, and reformer classes with on-site saunas. The downtown studio makes it easy to move directly from strength work into recovery.
At Shine Movement Therapy, integrative Pilates sessions are tailored to the individual. The work focuses on alignment, core strength, performance, longevity, and post-rehabilitation conditioning.

10:30 a.m. Breakfast and a Walk
Settle in for breakfast or brunch, then browse downtown or the Heights before the afternoon appointments begin.

12:30 p.m. Find Your Recovery Style
Balanced Active Recovery combines infrared sauna sessions, cold-plunge contrast therapy, compression recovery, therapeutic massage, and chiropractic care. Its approachable Heights location works well for athletes or anyone carrying a little more tension than usual.
Outbound Wellness gathers independent practitioners in one Industrial Street location. Services include IV hydration, facials, sports medicine acupuncture, chiropractic care, somatic bodywork, nutrition coaching, and aesthetic treatments, so guests can book one appointment or combine several.
For more targeted support, Gorge to Summit Physical Therapy provides physical therapy, private Pilates, and mat classes. It is a useful option for anyone managing an injury, persistent soreness, or limited mobility.

3:30 p.m. Spend Three Hours in a Salt Cave
Each private appointment at Hood River Spa & Sea Salt Cave unfolds over three hours inside a handmade cave containing 3,000 pounds of Baja Gold Sea salt. Guests can rake patterns into the salt, meditate, recline beneath dim lighting, or make a salt angel.
The cave is reserved for one party at a time and accommodates individuals, couples, families, and small groups.

Sunday
8 a.m. Start with Breakfast at the Hotel
Have breakfast before checking out and give the morning time to unfold.
9:30 a.m. Take One Final Class
Return to a favorite studio or try the option missed on Saturday. A restorative yoga practice, focused Pilates session, or class-and-sauna pairing can set the tone for the final day.
11:30 a.m. Add a Final Soak or Treatment
Use your hotel amenities once more before checkout, or schedule a massage at its spa or another treatment with one of Hood River’s providers.

1 p.m. Grab Something Fresh for the Road
Before heading home, do your body one last favor and pick up a smoothie or açaí bowl to fuel you for the trip.
Whether as the focus of the entire trip or added on to a few active days on Mount Hood, wellness comes in many forms in Hood River. Choose your own adventure, but make room for rest and recovery. They deserve a place on the itinerary, too.
This is a suggested itinerary. Confirm current hours, availability, and reservation requirements directly with each business.
